Bladder management after spinal cord injury - Are guidelines the true standard?
Bladder dysfunction is an important component in neurological diseases. Over the years it has been a major cause of mortality and morbidity in this patient group. There has been a worldwide collaboration to standardise the care in this field with international standards. However, it is not clear if following these guidelines is cost effective in developing countries and whether it improves the outcomes over the longer term. It might be possible to provide an effective service with a rational use of expensive investigations and management modalities.
